Q: I’m a Baby Boomer who is feeling like a dinosaur. I’m a little lost in terms of technology, and am wondering if I should not even try to work with Gen X and Gen Y clients, who are very tech-focused. Help!
A: I hear this a lot from clients who are Boomers with the same concern you have. You’re right that many Gen X and Gen Y clients expert a high level of expertise in the area of technology. But they also want a high level of service … which is often an area of weakness for Gen X and Gen Y agents. If you can consistently deliver great service, while continuing to build your tech skills, I think you can overcome your fear of working with Gen X and Gen Y clients.
