This week I had the pleasure of teaching my two-day in-depth business-building class, Safari. I am always delighted to see real estate agents returning to Safari year after year.
“What an honor,” I thought. The fact that there are some agents who come back even though they had already been to the class in the past touched me.
At the end of the day I asked everyone if the two-day experience was worth it and one of the agents said, “I have been to Safari many times and every time I learn something new.”
This comment reminded me how important it is for all of us to continue to seek further training. There have been many times in my own life when I have attended a seminar and walked away with one great idea that I could immediately put to work in my business. I couldn’t implement every idea, but it takes just one good idea, one new system, one new rule, program or client care tip to increase income, efficiency, or quality of life in your business.
When you are ready to grow, improve or take your business to the next level, there are always great resources out there. The key is that you must take the action, get yourself signed up and get to the class. So many agents find themselves saying “Not now, I am too busy”. They keep putting off further training because they convince themselves that they know all the answers or they can’t possibly add one more thing anyway, so why bother? But what if that one thing is a more-efficient way to replace something that is taking your time? What if that one thing could double your income (like one client reported back to me last year after attending Safari the previous year)?
When I was a Managing Broker I would send my agents to different training events. Many of my managing broker friends would ask me why I would send my agents to other trainers and I would always tell them it was because I knew they would come back with ONE thing that could help inspire them. The reason I was so sure about this was because I knew that there are times when agents are ready to learn the lessons- and there are times when they are not ready. It is all about being receptive and open and willing to really listen to what you are supposed to learn. You need to be a willing learner and you need to invest the time into yourself and your business.
I challenge each of you to STOP putting off a class, a workshop or a seminar that you have wanted to go to. Don’t justify not going by saying “I’m doing okay without this.” Perhaps what you learn or pick up from the class could take your business from okay to phenomenal. Never underestimate the power of new ideas and new energy. The other reason you want to make classes and education a part of your business success model is because you may not be able to implement all the ideas you get from a class but if you go to classes and trainings on a regular basis, you are bound to pick up something new or get a reminder to do something that you may have stopped doing.
You never know what teacher or lesson is out there right now just waiting for you!
