Q: Denise, I have been reading lately about people who are buying pod housing units (little cottages) and putting them on their property for family members to live in. Is this classified as micro housing?
A: Great question! But the answer is no. Pods that are placed on a piece of property or as part of a moving vehicle is not considered micro housing because true housing refers to that which is tied to the land and that which has a title. If a dwelling is not “titleable” or “taxable” it is not the kind of micro housing I am referring to in this discussion. However we must remember that ANYTHING that changes the way people live can have an effect on inventory in the market which can then have an effect on pricing.
