Q: Denise, I was wondering if I should be concerned about not being able to afford to drive a luxury car when working with buyers?
A: That is an excellent question and one that I have had much experience with over the years. I have had the opportunity to work with many agents who could only afford to drive moderate priced cars. Did this negatively affect their business? In a word … NO!
Clients today want an agent that they can relate to and an agent that provides exceptional client care. If all you have to rely on is your luxury car, then you are in deep trouble. In fact, some clients might be turned off by a luxury car, while others make like it. The bottom line is that it is not the car that makes the agent, it is the agent’s ability to articulate their value and to provide excellent client care. But, if you do take clients out in your car remember to have it clean and tidy!
I’d like to add to that — Your attire is important too. If you’re well dressed (not jeans and a t-shirt) and professional that’s likely what they’ll see, not the car. I think buyers can be intimidated by an agent in a luxury car.
Doug you are sooooooooooooooooooooooooo right on here. Show up with your best foot forward and always act like a professional and dress like a professional and you will be treated like a professional. Denise
